I'm Aaron, and I design operational systems for complex real-world environments
I led specialized human-centered enterprise platforms, operational research, and workflow modernization across aviation and large-scale business systems.

I am a Seattle-based Staff Product Designer with more than 20 years of experience designing emerging technologies across mobile, enterprise, and aviation platforms. My work focuses on modernizing complex operational workflows through human-centered systems thinking, research, and cross-functional collaboration.

Work Highlights
Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro
briefing & en route flight plan workflows & threat assessment

At ForeFlight, I lead human-factors research and product design initiatives for FliteDeck Pro’s integrated EFB platform, helping airlines modernize operational workflows for commercial flight crews.

Flight crews frequently manage a patchwork of applications that fragment attention and complicate critical workflows. This project reimagined the operational experience by consolidating briefing, navigation, documentation, and situational-awareness tools into a unified ecosystem designed around continuity, clarity, and real-world cockpit operations.

Jeppesen Aviator
aviation workflow & logistics

As UX Design Lead for Aviator at Jeppesen, I helped guide the transition from paper-based cockpit workflows to integrated digital aviation operations.

Partnering closely with commercial pilots, we validated operational concepts through usability testing and field research focused on briefing, navigation logging, and situational awareness. The work contributed to a broader vision for connected flight-deck tools designed to improve continuity, efficiency, and operational clarity for airline crews.

Microsoft ContractWeb
cohesive branded contract request, search and status

At Microsoft, I worked on ContractWeb, an enterprise platform supporting legal and contracting operations across multiple business functions.

Through remote interviews and collaborative research sessions with attorneys, accountants, administrators, and content managers, I helped identify opportunities to simplify fragmented workflows and modernize the portal experience. Partnering across disciplines, we refined navigation, clarified content strategy, and improved the usability of integrated contracting services used throughout the organization.

Microsoft MyOrder
procurement requisition with approver oversight

MyOrder was created to simplify complex procurement workflows at Microsoft, where legacy systems and disconnected interfaces made purchasing difficult to track and manage at scale.

Working closely with buyers, administrators, and assistants, I helped redesign the requisition and approval experience to improve workflow visibility and reduce operational friction. The resulting system introduced clearer status awareness, streamlined task flows, and contextual information designed to help users quickly understand where requests stood within the procurement process.

"I worked with Aaron on a market segment leading Aviation solution aimed at the pilot persona. Over the course of my career, I’ve worked with dozens of UX designers while Aaron was by far the best. His quality of work, speed, ownership, and communication are beyond reproach. It was a pleasure to work with him and hoping to work with him again in the future."

"I've been fortunate to know Aaron since he was in high school, during which his creative talents were already boldly evident. Working with him during the very early days of the Foresight Design Initiative provided me not only with compelling design, but also stretched me creatively in an effort to keep up. Watching him grow and develop since then, not just creatively and technically, but also personally and emotionally, has been edifying and inspiring. There is no "light touch" in Aaron's vocabulary, he fully engages and challenges himself to exceed even his own expectations whether it's a logo or complex user-interface that he's collaborating on crafting. Technically proficient in more ways and on more platforms than I can comprehend, he's also, more importantly, ambitious while still being tactful, generous, thoughtful and kind."
